Significant early-season storm still on track

Quick update today. The long-advertised storm is currently making its way onshore in NorCal. Model projections have diminished the intensity of the system somewhat from the rather aggressive initial predictions, but I nonetheless expect some unseasonably significant rainfall totals (in excess of 2 inches in a few spots) and the possibility of some isolated thunderstorms near the front and in the Sac. Valley. behind the front. SoCal will see some light precip out of this…but nothing more.  The models are indicating the potential for a dangerous offshore wind event across the entire state next week, which could be a huge fire weather threat depending on the amount of rain that falls in the next 48 hours. Stay tuned. The models also continue an active flow pattern over the Eastern Pacific through day 16.
