An even briefer update this evening. Frozen precip fell to very low elevations in NorCal today and will fall to very low elevations in SoCal tonight. I expect the Antelope Valley, in particular, to see half a foot or more of snow overnight. Convection will continue to be a concern with this cold low, and some strong to severe thunderstorms (with the main concerns being large hail and weak tornados) will occur from about the Santa Barbara coast southwards. Significant rainfall will once again occur in SoCal over the next 24-48 hours. In the meantime, a hard freeze will envelop NorCal with well below freeezing overnight temperatures for the next two nights. By Thursday, the next cold system begins to move in. This will likely be a wetter system than the previous one, but snow levels will likely be a little higher and convective potential lower. Another fairly decent cold storm–again with relatively low snow levels–will occur by the weekend. The GFS shows cold system after cold system affecting CA through the end of the month…
