Warm…hot? Certainly dry…
Our non-winter 2006/2007 continues. We seem to have skipped spring and are poised to jump headlong into an almost summerlike pattern during the next week, with 80s and 90s in Socal and 70s to 80s as far north as the Oregon border. No rain is in sight…and there’s really not much to discuss to that end. Unanimous agreement amongst the forecast models exists, and they all indicate an entirely dry pattern for all of CA and for much of the West for at least the next 7 to 10 days. Temperatures will be range from slightly above normal to well above normal during the next 1-2 weeks, and even the peaks of the High Sierras will likely see highs well into the 50s by late in the weekend. Elevations as high as 5000 feet could approach 70 degrees, as well, so it’s not suprising that there will be a very large volume of snowmelt. This link snows the rate of Sierra snowmelt for the past 2 weeks…yellows and reds indicate rapid melting. Until later…
