Just a quick update tonight…a more extensive discussion tomorrow. Weak system moving through NorCal tonight is bringing some light to moderate rain and some gusty winds. Behind the front…some intense convective showers are moving ashore and snow levels are dropping once again. An interesting note: Mt. Hamilton, located in the Bay Area east of San Jose at a peak elevation of 4200 feet, has accumulated a snowpack of sorts: 2-4 inches on the top 1000 vertical feet, which has stuck for two full days. Current temperature at the top of the mountain is 35 as of 8 PM and dropping. Could see a lot of snow up that high over the next few days. In any case, SoCal probably won’t see any precip until Mon/Tues. That system will be pretty strong as it moves into NorCal and will usher in some very cold air aloft, bringing showers, thunderstorms with hail, and snow down to perhaps 1000 feet. More tomorrow….
